This is Phase III lnb used on some dirctv systems.
It has an internal switch that is not compatible with FTA receivers
It can be used to get only one sat at a time with FTA.
Now I have read that it can get one dishnet sat and the one that we can't mention here becuase of the site rules so I don't want to see any replys saying yes you can get more than one sat unless you know a way to get 110 and 119 with it.

tonerhell I think you would just use a ragular channle list with that setup.

ponyrider127 I think thats a circular and should work fine for 110 or 119.
But I would know for sure if I had the model number.

so will an ariza 400 work with it
I think it should work and you would not need a diseqc switch.

A bit more of a complete defination of different types of lnb's and when/how to use them and when not to.. Be good if some others would loook it over and see what is missing and maybe add to it.. Feel free to modify if you have some more info to add..

I have this type of lnb or something that looks like the image below with 2 outputs. The dish I have is a DTVs and is still pointing where dave pointed it. Each output of the lnb is going to a room in the house. Do I have to combine the both lines using a switch to see sat. 110 and 119 using a pansat 2700a or do I just need to use one output. If I do need one can I setup another unit in another room?

Iam ready to order my unit and want to make sure I have everything to complete the project. I hate starting and then find out I need something else.

I also know I need the null modem cable.

If you only have the one then you cannot get both 110 and 119 at the same time. You would need a special bracket, like many listed here and another LNB the same as what you have to get both 110 and 119. As well, you will need multiple switches, there is a switch that uses 2 line (one from each output on the LNB for Horz. and Vert. signal, this switch will output to 4 recievers (one for each lnb, 2 switches) the unit is a 3-4 switch (it has a single input on it for regular tv antenea). The you need an Disecq switch for each reciever to switch between 110 and 119. See attached image. the 4x1 diseqc switch should cost no more than $6-$10 the other 4x3 or 2x3 should cost no more than $20. total $40-$50 cheaper than multiple dishes.

I currently have a poormans dish setup to get the 110 and 119 bird on the old DTV dish with the old DTV lnbs.. kinda want to get 121 for my wife. Can I hit the 121 bird with this setup ??? or is it easier just setup another dish and point it to 121???? will another old DTV lnb catch the 121 bird? using a digiwave 5900c.

NO!
121 and 105 are LINEAR as in H / V
where reg Dish birds like 110/119 are Circular
A searech for 121 will get you all the info!
Also requires a larger dish for good reception.

Primestar will work excellent!

Can anyone tell me the difference between sw21 and sw21x switches? They look the same except for the output positioning to the receiver.
Position of connectors won't tell the difference they come both ways..
SW21 is used to combine 2 SATS like 110/119 into one feed.
SW21x is used to ADD a 3rd sat output of sw21 which combines
110/119 is fed into sw21x and the 3rd bird to other input.

in simple terms sw21x uses a different cmd to switch, where 2 sw21's
would be confused which takes the cmd sent.

Also a sw21x may be used in a stand alone like a sw21

Their use is primarily DISH use....

I have been using a 3 head DTV for a year on FTA. You can only use the outside LNB's (18 degree seperation) and it uses a 22khz switching. I use it for sat 110 and the one that's 19 degrees lower.

Some great pics in this thread. Unfortunately, none exactly match mine. The ones I received from the distributor of my torroidal dish are labeled as M20R. The R refers to reversed. Would they be considered legacy lnbs?

One question tho, anyone has any idea what the LNB made by coolsat any good? It's called CoolsatŪ Ku-Band LNBL and LNBC. I have posted this in the other forum, but haven't get any reply. I wonder if this is one of those that combine both the linear and circular into a single LNB. If it is, then it will be cool to have this on my motorized dish to pickup both the linear(121) and circular(119) birds. Here's a little picture of it.Found this description on eBay:

Connect two receivers to one satellite dish
Works with all KU band reception except DSS.
Great choice for Telstar 5(97w), Galaxy 10R, Galaxy 3C(95w), Telstar 6, AMC2 (105w), EchoStar 9(121w)Galaxy13 (127w), AMC4, and all other linear polarity satellites

Works with Coolsat, Fortec Star, Pansat, Viewsat, and many other FTA receivers

Hi 7rogerroger2!

Brother, I just bought a Dishpro quad lnb. I understand they have an sw21 built in and each output can go to a different receiver and each receiver can receive 119 and 110 with no problem with only one cable to each receiver.

I have a 24 inch dish and I keep on getting only 119. I Am using CW600s and Viewsat Extreme. I move the dish a bit to the left and to the right (East and West) I mess around with the inclination to no avail. I entered ocs-pro, then standard, then Universal in the "lnb field". No matter what I do I still get 119 and not 110. I am pretty good with this thing but, I am at a lost with this problem.

What do you think I am doing wrong? Is it that my dish cannot receive the two birds? Is that possible?

Any suggestion from you or anyone would be appreciated.

Thanks

I think I have found out why I am missing channels.

I have 2 LNBS.

"LNB1" is hooked up to bird *1 Diseqc 1 and gets a quality strength of 70-80%
"LN2" is hooked up to bird *2 Diseqc 2 and gets a quality strength of 44-65%

The strength qualities are the best I am able to obtain using either LNB.

I'm using a Pantec 2500a and the **v 2700a. I use the 2700a because it is better at finding a signal and

the correct bird. Then I switch over to the Pantec.

I was playing around with the LNBs and found that LNB "2," which is the original that came with the dish,

only scans even numbered transponders. Even if I use the 2700 box to scan. LNB "1", which is a newer

one scans everything.

LNB 1 is stays at around 75% with any TP as long as it is the ONLY one on the switch. If you add LNB on it only scans the odd numbered channels.

LNB2 only scans even numbered channels. Whether it is the sole LNB or part of the pair. Is it normal for the orginal LNBs to scan only even numbered TPs?

I've also noticed the following very odd thing.
With LNB2 in place at Diseqc 2, the empty switches of 3 and 4 also show up with a phantom signal on even Transponders.
??WTF??

Any ideas?

I'm going to go unhook Diseqc 2 and see if I can get some channels back.

For some reason my signal strength on LNB1 shot up.

:) First, I dont have a pic of the st*rchoice beercan lnbs, but I have used them for some of the sats (107 i think), but all I got was the locals from bible country, and some fox and pbs. Maybe 30 or so channels, not enough to keep me happy. I used the skewable 60e football dish st*rcoice comes with and played. I like the dish for mounting all my other lnbs on it now.
Also, them coolsat discq switches are sh!t! I have changed about 3 out of 10, and the signal bleed is gone. Sometimes they work if you scan each lnb direct to reciever, then add and configure switch.

I have 2 of those P*star lnbs with the dual H/V outputs. Model no. NJR2119F
Are those Linear?
If so, can I run both H & V outputs into a Diseqc switch and then run that into my Viewsat Xtreme?
Also, why is it necessary to have a 30" round dish to catch the FTA signals? Why won't a DN 18" or P*star 40" x 30" eliptical work? If it's about size, the P*star dish has more than 30" of surface area, so why wouldn't it work?

With your 311 (formerly subbed) receiver, the simplest switch to use is the SW21. It's not compatible with DisEQc switching (used with FTA receivers), but is designed to work with EchoStar receivers.

BTW, I am about to start testing a 311 Rev 284. Are you available for assistance via regular posts or PM?

I was ready to get into some testing (real testing) and purchased a 39" dish and motor! added a curcular lnb beside the linear and wow this rocks. you may not have a guide but if you are into surfing you will have your evening cut out for you. I also have a number of receivers and dvb card as well. The Ariza extreme is great with the correct bin but not so great if you wish to use diseqc, motor and multiple lnb's. The ariza 700 is not to bad at all and the pantec 2700a is probably a little ahead of the rest. I have not yet tried out the dvb card as it will take much more time to set up for the motor and mytheare.

Now my wife say's if I stop the naging i can also get one of those great big 10' c band dishs on the condition that I get her a dimond ring twice the size of the one she got on our 10year aniversery! She really expected to stop me with that line!!!! We've been married for 13years and she has'nt totaly figured out that this is like an addiction!! The ring on the other hand is be worked on. HAHA!! ENJOY THIS HOBBY THIS IS GREAT!!!:2guns: :sorcerer:

09-06-2006, 11:49 PM
I am not sertain but I beleive that you have a curcular lnb on that dish and if so you won't be able to using it for true fta as most fta is all on linear based satellites. Again without seeing the dish lnb It may also have a build in switch that I don't think you can use with the 2700. If you are only wanting to set up a single dish with no motor then your best bet would be g10r satellite. It has the most english based channels on it. As well as your locatian witch will determan your dish size for true fta. I live in south central Canada and tried the 33" dish but was not enough for g10r. Now I am using a 39" and get good reception on most of the fta sats. The further south you go the smaller the dish you can use, but if I were you I would always stick to the 39" and if you ever install a motor you will get great reception on the other sats as well. Besides that the actual cost of a 39" to the 33" is minimal at best even if you are a tight *** as myself. Good luck and have fun:favor55

If you don't have the diseqc switch hooked up then you are only getting one sat.
When you hook it up you have to set the setting the same as they are hooked up to the switch.
If 110 is hooked to port#1 on the switch then in the settings it needs to be set to diseqc# 1and if 119 is hooked to port #2 then the settings need to be diseqc# 2

cubanswingers thats a universal lnb it can get both linear and circular sats.
So it depends on what sat you are setting up at the time.

If the sat is circular (like dishnet) then the LBN type needs to be standard, LBN Local-Freq = 11250.

If the sat is linear then LBN type = universal and LBN Local-Freq = 10750

Happy Holidays! to each and everyone...

Just got VS Extreme using 18" dish with 2 dual legacy, its pointing 110 & 119 using SW21 to the receiver. Watching TV right now, the only thing is - i have to switch back & fort to watch either 110 or 119 by pressing the sat from the remote control(echo 7 or echo 8/10), is that the way supposed to be? or do i have to use the DisEQc switch to make it work together without switching the sat button when browsing the guide.

Secondly,is it possible to add my phase 3 lnbf to get different bird thru my set-up? By reading on this great THREAD i can get one. So, do i have to connect the SW21(110 & 119) goin to receiver to DisEQc port 1 and the phase 3 lnbf cablewire to port 2 or do individual cablewire to port 1,2,3 from the DisEQc switch? I just dont want to mess it up till i get a response to this GREAT SITE.

Thank you and all the best,

Hi all

I was wondering if anyone could lend me an ear.

I'm thinking of getting a 33 dish with a linear lnb to use later on for true FTA purposes.

However, for the time being I'd like to use this 33 dish with my sg2100 motor.

I'm interested in DN so I need a circular lnb.

My question is as follows: Can I use the circular lnb from my 18 inch DTV on my a 33 inch dish?

Has anyone done this?

Thanks in advance.

Merry Christmas.:party53:

Hi I have the Twin DishPro PLUS LNB. My question is what connectors do I use? Do I use the 2 that are on the Left and connect them to my switch on LNB1 and LNB2? Or do I just use one of them on the right and connect to switch?
I'm assuming the connector on the right is for the mutiple dish thing.

Sorry I try to use the search feature but I keep getting its disable msg.
Thanks for any help in advance.

This is the 2nd time an inquiry pertaining to this very same problem has arose. Is there any pros in the house willing to lend a hand? To recap, DishPro PLUS, 3 connectors, how many birds, going to how many receivers, most importantly HOW??! I'd really like to know as well.

Could someone tell me why I would not have the "Legacy Twin LBN1 or 2" option in the setup. I have it on Standard now, and it doesn't seem to work right. Thanks.

You need to ask that question in your box discussions forum. Give as much info as possible to get the best help. Box type, bin being used, and other info.

What do you put the settings at when pointing dish for a legacy dual?

Since folks are advancing in their set up i thought I'd add these.

The first one is a DP500 plus and will recieve 110,118.7,119
The second is a DN 1000 and recieves 110,119,129
The last but not least is the DN 1000 plus and gets 110,118.7,119,129.

How bout this one? Found 2 boxes and would like to know if they are FTA compatible and how many/ which birds will get. I think it's AU9 Dish from DTV Ka/Ku 99/101/103/110/119 LNB built-in multiswitch with 4 outputs. Thanks

Hi i just up grade from a single lnb to a triple feed multi satelite lnb with a build in multi switch with 4 out puts

before that i use to get good singnal with the single lnb, i got a pansat 2800A receiver and i up graded to the triple lnb to get 101, 110 and 119 satelites
but i am not getting no singnal with the triple

does any body know if the build in switch is compitable with pansat 2800A or do i need to move my dish to get signal with the triple lnb?

From what you describe it sounds like a Phase III dish/LNB.
The dish will need to be aimed differently, & you will not get 101.

It is not the best option for what you want, but will work for FTA.
To get the most from this LNB another LNB should be added.
The Phase III LNB uses an internal 22Khz switch.

I will edit a photo to maintain forum rules.
If this is the LNB you have I can also edit (to follow rules) & post the setup directions.

ok i was able to do the scans and obtain the channels once, but what i did is reconnect the coax the way they were before (See drawing A) and turn the lnb power off of each sat i wasn't scanning. this way it works fine but i don't think it is right since the dp twin lnbf has already a switch in it. When i disconnected the coax from 119 to port 2, and moved the coax from 61.5 to port 2 and used the following setting on the vsxtrem, i couldn't get the channels from 119 (echostar 8) (see drawing B). echostar 3, lnb power on, diseq port 2 .... echostar 7 on diseq port 1 and echostar 8 on port 1 as well. Are you shure that the dp twin has an incorporated switch? if yes how do you get it to switch with only one calble connected to the diseq ? could the internal switch be bad ?
