Hello again, as a person somewhat familiar with the Canadian judicial system I feel compelled to relieve you of some fear caused by myths or speculation.
It's true that becoming "caught up" in legal ramblings can be very expensive and often, because the provincial purse is bigger than your wallet, you can find yourself poor and disappointed. This does happen when you have two dedicated litigants battling over an issue both find important, like bitter divorces, a guy trying to beat drug trafficking charges, a street racer trying to get his car back against the cop he ticked off, etc but we digress.
The interests of corporations to capture profit are not recognized as particularly important by judges. A law enforcement agency asked to look at records because of a suspected pedophile responds quickly and have the support of just about every other living human being they come across. Lawyers, judges, internet providers, etc.. all included. All of whom recognize this abhorrent activity as fundamentally wrong.
Satellite signals do not get this reaction. You can be charged and if a judge sees it as trivial they will throw it out. More likely, the judge will look at his docket for cases for that day, see wife abusers, child abusers, assaults of all kinds, car thieves, bank robberies, rapes, murders, drug trafficking, do you see what I mean? The guy with a satellite on his back porch and some provider yelling "shame on you!" will be pushed down to the bottom of that list day after day until it goes away.
Let's not get paranoid over an issue that has exaggerated importance to it's user. It isn't Orwell's 1984, we don't live in a police state. Relax.
