Well, it's certainly great news that the 700 might have a new lease on life, and huge thanks to the people who put together the conversion.

I'm totally new to anything other than downloading the new bin, so please bear with me...

I see JTAG cables on ebay, some saying that they are suitable for the Pansat 2700, some that refer to other Pansat models, and some that don't refer to any models at all. So I guess different boxes need a different type of JTAG cable? If I get one one ebay that says it's compatible with the Pansat 2700, will that do what I need it to?

Any help for a helpless noob would be appreciated.

could someone please post a picture of the jtag connection on the board. The only thing I see is a 20 pin plug receptacle near the front of the machine and the pins are numbered as follows
19 17 15 13 11 9 7 5 3 1
20 18 16 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 so I tried the connection like this

5 X 13 5 4 3 2 X X X
X X X X X X X X X X it did nothing at all in "the wall"

in the file it shows

5 X 13 5 4 3 2 X X [] what the heck does this mean []?

I even tried grounding the [] and still nothing.
