I see a lot of dead 700's

In the future. If you don't know how to solder 5 resistors to 5 wires and then solder them to the appropriate pins on a db-25 connector, It is very unlikely that this will work for you, unless you have someone guiding you step by step. This not like loading a new bin which a 5 year old can do and we know how many seemingly smart folks can't even do that . I think if you have to ask how to make and hook up a JTag cable by now in this hobby then you should run away from this project. When you end up with no display and your 700 appears to be completely dead do you know how to get it back???? If your answer to this question is anything but absolutely YES , not "maybe!" or "I think so" Then you are getting in way over your head and if you do end up with a major problem you could be standing in a long line of beggars asking for someone to bail you out Good luck on that.

give me a break bud jtagging is simple , i agree that its not a simple as loading a bin, but it is a simple operation that most people can due. With you writting this post you are discurraging many people in going ahead with the process. If they follow the steps they should have no problem. There a many different types or receivers out there and i have to admite that i have not done a ariza but i have done many others and their basicly all the same aside from the soldering points .

So all you people that are wundering if you have what it takes to do the jtag operation i say go ahead its not that difficult you really dont have much to lose.

I'm glad you're here to help them, And I'm not trying to be sarcastic I mean that, It is very easy for me to resurrect an stb that has no display and will not to a JTag but I don't think it's as simple as you think. I have been dealing for years with people who only have to follow simple instructions and it is a proved(proven is not a word in the english language), fact that people cannot follow simple instructions lol. But with you here to help them get their box's back to life after the JTag corrupts the tsop I'm sure they will figure it out, I think it's great that folks want to try these things but when they post that they can't do this or that when all of the info is here and they wont bother to read what's already been posted what makes you think that suddenly these people will radically change?.

If all the info is here then it doesn't work for me at all. I have a jtag that I made years ago and have used successfully every time I have used it except now. I have been testing for awhile now and not just fta which I think is very simple. Since nobody would post a picture of where the Connection is on the board. I took the Jtag that I made before the 700 conversion to 2700 was ever dreamed of a soldered it both ways to the only connection that remotely resembled the description. I soldered it both ways because the instructions didn't tell which angle you should be looking at. It worked for neither two configurations I tried that, but the machine still functions as it did. Maybe it is a bad one. I have another 700 I will try it with but I can't imagine that it would be different. I would like see somebody on here that actually did this mod and describe it better. So far everyone is saying it works, but I don't beleive anybody has actually done it themselves. If you have great share your knowledge and please let us see a picture of the connection on the board. When I hook everything up every time the wall tells me warning! the id code is incorrect as if nothing was hooked into it all all.

I am willing to help in any way i can. I have to agree with you in the sense that people are not willing to read or follow simple instructions, thats does get under my skin abit, and yes you are right if they do make a mistake the can corrupt the tsop, then again it all comes down to reading if they read the instruction and follow them to T then they should'nt have any problems. The point i was trying to make was that jtagging is not that hard, and people with an Ariza or fortecs or pansat 2500 should not be afraid to do the procedure, their boxes are fading out and if they want to keep them going then they will need to jtag them or buy them- selves a new box. Theres plenty of guides on how to build a jtag a many different posts on how to perform the jtag operation . There is really no need to be affraid to do this and anyone with abit of knoleage then this is doable

If you can't buy new don't loose what you have?

I think conversion is a good idea to keep away Ariza critisizers to stay in peace.

I'm sorry if some engineers hurt?
