playing divx movies

Can a person connect an external hdd to a Captiveworks 700 or 800
and play avi or divx movies thru it? I want a way to play movies on my tv that I have stored on my pc without all the clutter.
Thank you

the files need to be converted to mpeg2 format. The CW800 will only play video that is in mpeg2 format or in its own format which is "gts". You can find a free converters with a web search to convert to mpg.
