New “Basic” PVR Function
c/p
The Mini has been recently upgraded with a new “basic” PVR function, they are still working out a few of the bugs but this has been a great “gift” to Mini owners. The following lists a few of the features of the PVR function…………….
-There is a 4gig limit for files on a FAT32 file system. The files are nominally around a gig an hour but it will vary with lesser/greater video resolution sources, as recorded HD content is huge.
-There is no time-shifting means no pausing live TV, the Mini is not a Duo.
-There are two timer functions - whether you use them to record to a drive or as simple "reminder timers".
-To set a record timer for a show in the guide, highlight the show and press the record button (a red circle will appear). -
-To set a "reminder timer" for a show in the guide, highlight the show and press the record button twice (a green circle will appear).
-Setting a record timer in the Timer Menu is the same as it is for the "reminders" except there is now a duration (NOT End Time) setting below the Start Time. It’s best to manually schedule things to start two minutes early and end two minutes late just in case the station is a little off, so I would set the start time to be two minutes early and add four minutes to the duration.
-To set a "reminder timer", simply set the duration to 0:00 and the Mini will go to the channel at the correct time but will not record.
-When the mini is recording, you can’t FF or RR during the recording process.
-During playback…..pressing the Page Up RCU button goes 30 seconds forward and Page Down goes 5 seconds back.
-Pressing the FF and RR buttons move…..2x, 4x, 8x ect, as does the left and right arrow RCU buttons for rapid access to any point in the recording.
-For now, there's no time shift, or replay, or watching another channel on the same TP, while recording... for that you'll need a Duo or Trio.
