I'm Interested in a coolsat 8100 HD micro, Quick (noob) question, does it need an 8psk moddification chip to run 1080i HD, like Viewsat does?

dont bother....

8100 doesnt support the 8qpsk....

but to answer ur question, yes, receiver needs to be modified but again saying that is wrong cuz u can not modify it.........it wont work....

look into

pansat 9200
viewsat 9000 v2
sonicview 8000 v2

Perfect thanks a lot, just the information I was looking for. But yeah, I am looking for an HD STB, and just needed some specific information and you answered that very well. I'll be leaving you positive feedback in the Feedback section.

Megamicalo didnt know we had a feedback area...lol there are currently 4 units that accept the 8psk module and a site search will reveal them
