Channel Ordering

I have my DB500S (ok, probably a clone) running. I have installed DSM image. I am now trying to get the Channels to Order the way I am familiar with (SID).

I am using openDBedit and have downloaded a channel list that is close. I have even tried to do some modifications to it, but they never seem to quite fix the issue.

From what I am seeing, the DB somehow renumbers the channels to not leave any spaces or gaps. For example.. I have Channel 103 and 105 (USA Network), but since there is no 104, the USA Network gets assigned the channel 104.

I even tried to copy/add the USA Network as 104 as well as leave it defined as 105, but it does not appear to have worked. I don't mind having big blocks of "blank" channels with numbers.

Would appreciate any help or guidance.

Should I be looking to try a different image (PLi or Nitro)? Do they have the same issues?

Also, there is mention of a script that either prepends the channel number to the Service name, or assigns the Channel number the SID number. I can't find it to test with it.

Thanks in advance.

Channel master

I believe the program you are speaking of is channel master and if not in the DB forums it is on the site somewhere just hit search and enter Channel master, it is a good program and it should do what your trying to do.

Channel Master vs openDBedit

Thanks for the Reply hedo.

I have looked at and played (only very briefly) with Channel Master. It seems to be a very good product for General FTA boxes. openDBedit is specifically for the DB, so it has a built in FTP function to Import/Export files directly to/from the DB. It seems to do essentially the same thing as Channel Master.

My problem is that even though I set up the Channels the way I want them, the DB seems to "process" the channels and re-number them anyway.

Since I am new at this, I don't know why this is happening, and my attempts to perform a work around have been unsuccessful.

As mentioned in the originating post, I have defined Channel 103 and then Channel 105, in the DB Channel 103 is correct, but Channel 105 gets renumbered (reassigned / reprocessed) to Channel 104. So if I want to watch 105, I have to type in channel 104 on the remote. This renumbering happens whenever there is a "missing" or blank channel in the list.

Hopefully some of the more experienced DBers can help me out.

Thanks.

Snoopy

It took me a while to get the list the way I want it, your gonna have to play around with channel master and ODBE.
I did this list up for my dad (legacy), it may be missing the renumbered porn.....I don't do dish so I can't update from where I am.
