More and more of my TeeVee watching is from video streamed over the internet. Since I added the Watch Instantly option to my NetFlix sub I am using that technology several times a week. I also belong to Boxee and Hulu, as well as the old standard, Youtube. Additionally, many sites like CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS, BBC, and CBC offer entire shows streamed over the internet. Showtime and HBO also offer some full length programs available for free. Since there is no one standard streaming format the technolgy to receive these shows and make the best use of them (i.e. record or burn to DVD a streamed NetFlix movie) is getting fairly complicated. Some new BluRay players even include a NetFlix Watch NOW decoder and can directly display streamed HD movies. Other sources have their own hardware or require a specific type of PC and Video card. This is really an interesting and exploding area of TV. Perhaps we could think about a forum area dealing with this topic?
