Thread jacking ???

Im not new to fta but pc lingo is new to me. Is thread jacking the same as butting in on someones conversation.Not to clear on how i would be able to assist someone.What i understand is its ok to assist someone on the thread as long as you dont change subject,is this sound about right. If you can help me to understand this concept would greatly apreciate it.

I think you've got it.

For instance, you've opened a thread discussing "Thread Jacking".

All posts here should be relating to that.

If I was to post saying "so does anybody have a fix for the Coolsat 5000?" that would be not only a stupid question to begin with, but would most definitely be thread jacking.

When your trying to assist with somes ones problem its helping not butting in.the forums are for help.but as you stated changing the topic or the subject is thread jacking.
