Posting

I usually never have anything to say, plus I'm reminded not to waste bandwidth at every turn, yet every so often I'm exhorted to post a question, find a friend, or something in that vein. Why can't I just visit the forum, find what I'm looking for, and if I can't find an answer, then ask a question of my own choosing?

You can ask any question in the open forums of your choosing.
As long as you follow the site rules, you should not have any problems.
I also see that you are a VIP member. Thanks for supporting a great community.
If you can help everyone understand, what it is you have a question about, we can help further.

Bandwidth

Usually the only time we ask members to save on the bandwidth is when we have thread where we have 30 posts all saying I am up, I am up, I am up. If the units are up in Boston they are up in NY, in Chicago, in Seattle, in Atlanta, in Phoenix, in LA. You get the idea and vice versa for the I am down threads.

Plus with these type of threads members complain they find it harder to find the answers with these threads clogging the site.

BUT if you have a question, (unless the post directly above yours answers the same question)...LOL then by all means we ENCOURAGE you to post and our GREAT members, will no doubt help out, and we will get you back up in no time.

Also thank you for supporting the site with your VIP donation

I think what he was saying was that when you haven't posted in a while
and you log in, it gives you a message that you haven't posted a comment
in a while,.... why not take the time to do so now.

Am I correct on this one Elgordo???

right

Coy: You are a genius, i just reread then original post and they are asking about the splash screen.

to answer it isn't just you we bother with that screen it is actually intended to help those who are shy or weary about posting, by inviting them to do so. Virtually every forum has this type of screen and it is just an "add on" that the owner can activate or not and once activated it works for ALL accounts.

If you don't want to post just click on through to the forums and your good to go. We just hope you will participate and perhaps even help someone you may "think" you don't know enough to help, BUT you likely know more than some other rookie and we were ALL there at one point. Chances are the person you help, may not say it but will REALLY appreciate the help

the splash screen did that to me also when I first started and it does get shy or weary people to post as I was one of them as this was my first forum i used... now i'm addicted... (in a good way) interacting with the members here have helped me out so much and not just in fta related issues..........so I'll take this opportunity to thank all members.
