Website Errors/Problem!

Since the switch to the new server I sometimes get a data base error or get a server time out. I do have the dreaded dial up and aol, hey I live in the sticks....lol
Any ideas?

are you guys storing your files with vbuletin in mysql or on a ftp file path? vbuletin defaults to mysql, but you dont want that, else you will keep having database problems, also, in do_not_upload, there is a Tools.php file that you can fix some database errors.

This has happened a few times while the admin was trying to add a few things.
Remember this is a new server and things are still being tweaked.

It's not my place to answer that but I can say that the admin and most of the staff are aware of that so that's not the cause of the DB issues as stated above.
But thanks for advice anyway.

I think this may have happened to us all a few times but it hasn't lasted long. This is a new server and the Administration is working night and day hard to iron out all the bugs give it time because eventually it will be better than anything else available. Do you members remember how difficult it was when you first set up your receivers? Well this is the same way for the server only on a much larger scale.

No problem, I just was wondering if it was because I was so far off the beatin path...lol .....I know dial up is a lot slower then ...well anything...lol
(except for maybe two tin cans with a string attached to both.....

Error Message
408 Request Timeout error messages are often customized by each website, especially very large ones, so keep in mind that this error may present itself in more ways than the common ones listed below:
"408: Request Timeout"
"HTTP Error 408 - Request Timeout"
The 408 Request Timeout error displays inside the Internet browser window, just as web pages do.
Cause
The 408 Request Timeout error is an HTTP status code that means the request you sent to the website server (i.e. a request to load a web page) took longer than the website's server was prepared to wait. In other words, your connection with the web site "timed out".
Resolution
Retry the web page by clicking the refresh/reload button or trying the URL from the address bar again. Many times a slow connection causes a delay that prompts the 408 Request Timeout error and this is often only temporary. Trying the page again will often be successful.

Note: If the 408 Request Timeout error message appears during the checkout process at an online merchant, be aware that duplicate attempts to checkout may end up creating multiple orders - and multiple charges! Most merchants have automatic protections from these kinds of actions but it's still something to keep in mind.


You may be experiencing an issue with your Internet connection that's causing long delays when accessing pages. To rule this out, visit another website like Google or Yahoo. If the pages load as fast as you're used to seeing them load, the issue causing the 408 Request Timeout error is probably with the web site.


On the other hand, if all web sites are running slow, your Internet connection may in fact be having issues. Run an Internet speed test to benchmark your current bandwidth or contact your Internet Service Provider for technical support.


Come back later. The 408 Request Timeout error is a common error message on very popular websites when a huge increase in traffic by visitors (that's you!) is overwhelming the servers. As more and more visitors leave the website, the chances of a successful page load for you increases.


That was a C/p from a nameless place BUT most of the time its from us people who use the slower connections and or downloading something else at same time..........

The Admin's could extend the duration allowed for server to wait for resquests but on the opposite side it can make it slower if its busy so just try again should work

I get the error 408 many times from the first time we are with the new server.. Very slow all the time when i clik to read a new threat. error most of the time if i try to post.. Hope all the bugs are go away soon..

We are aware of these and some other issues and are working towards isolating and solving them...

Please be patient while we are trying to work out the bugs on the NEW server....

Post all errors on the website you are experiencing.

Please copy and paste all relevant screens, error codes, etc. so we may find it and fix it.

We've gone through a major move and change so things still need ironing out.

We need your help in fixing things that may be broken...
