From what I read, N2 was not leaked from the inside and technically never cracked. Someone simply (probably not so simple) physically got to the ROM of the card and dumped it. Was first reported in Spain then Germany (?) then N America. Don't know if this was all part of the same dump or people replicating the method used to dump the card. There are video's floating around the interweb (youtube?) how to do it with commonly available equipment and chemicals.

I wasnt referring to Charlie.. was referring to Dave.. and if I remember correctly.. it was someone from their security team that leaked it.. (correct me if I am wrong). I do remember they had a big replacement of security folks due to the leak, and hammered some guy that actually bought the information from him... a bit later, N3 was designed.. new cards from Dave came along.. and now we sit here still wondering...

k I understood that you were talking about Dave the Charlie Chat was my poor attempt at humor reguarding the post right above the quoted one you have.
I believe you are a little misinformed. Above is how I remember the hack for N2 evolving. Now the orginal hack to Nagravision (N1) is rumored to have come about in the way you describe. It was released around the same time as NDS's next gen smart cards (P4 in NA) And it is believed by many that Dave or NDS payed to have it cracked. Because it was in direct competion for them and had not been compromised at the point in time.

Craz ,you hit the nail on the head.Until the hackers with some hi-end electronic equipment break down this card ,the coders can't do a single thing.One more point ,it's going to cost a pretty penny to get the info from the hackers,or from a turncoat.
So whether these stb makers are willing to fork out considerable $$$,we may never see a fix.And that, may well be that.I'd say after a full month if we don't hear some form of progress(other than we are down),then I'd say it's over for the stb's.Maybe,a different avenue of hacking will take its place.
