Since we are in general discussion we can talk

thanks for moving the thread. I am completely unbiased. I bought my boxes. I bought a nova years ago. I bought a Kbox not to long ago and last week I bought a nfusion phoenix. Nova when it started had a standalone bin but some years back they stopped. My Nova's picture was pristine because i send it through an amp that converts it to 1080p and then to the HDMI input of my Plasma. When they stopped supporting nova i was really pissed and jumped ship to KBox. Mainly because i could find few negative comments about Kbox in the forums. When there was questions about connection problems the guys who post more than Carter have pills always told the folks to check their network. So i jumped ship and bought a Kbox. Set up was easy, nothing like dreambox which i also have, and i was up and running in twenty minutes. The picture was good no better or no worse than my nova. Really i thought my veiwsat beat both nova and Kbox but thats only my opinion. I found the Kbox had a lot less channels than Nova. I also found when folks asked about channels they were raked over the coals as channel beggars so I never asked about channels. I did see when i asked about connection problems i was told they were either adding channels or that something was wrong with my network. After awhile that logic didn't hold water either. My sub is on my network my phone and five PC's never where they down when i was having connection problems. After all the connection problems i never saw a big addition of channels. When Mac and Chesse came out I reconnected my Nova and had almost nil freezin. When i found out kbox was showing ufc i reconnected my kbox and it was deja vu again. After ufc was over i reconnected my nova and decided to buy a Phoenix. I really thought the way nfusion treated its nova owners was crappy but such is life. I love my car but if given the chance i would strangle the dealer. Really if folks were given boxes to test i think it would be helpful to all the testers if they stated that. I have no axe to grind or do i have any other motive than to share my testing exprience. I have been in the iks camp for years and i never can't remember having to do hard resets on my boxes. I really think honest discussion helps not only the tester it helps the provider improve his product. Side by side testing of Kbox and Nfusion i found that kbox have no VOD channels. PPV channels and stabilty is important to me so i went with nfusion again. Since i am not getting married to the nfusion providers i could really care if they are scoundrels or not. i like their product and servers better. If they shut down my box next month or next year i will have to cross that bridge when i come to it. I truly hope i have been unbiased. I have tested enforcer viewsat dreambox nova and kbox. All bought and paid for by my blood and sweat. So i have nothing to gain or lose. And maybe i missed something here about kbox having a standalone bin. If Kbox had a standalone bin for Charlie would that not mean nag3 was hacked and i could get my Dreambox and viewsat out of the closet!!!

fdels, now I will answer your question if they allowed upgrading from the nova to another unit then no that would not be tie them to 3rd party coders. Then you are saying the phoenix, solaris, and the hd model must be tied to 3rd party coders, Sir you make no sense with that statement at all. Now I am ROFLOL
We are also not allowed to talk about that provider as now you are breaking rule number 1. I suggest you read it.
Now you say that for business sense they could not afford to let there customers upgrade because it would be too costly so because of cloning they stop support of the nova, Now that being the case then they better stop support for the solaris and the phoenix because they have been also cloned. The only model that has not been cloned is the HD model that previously was named the Nuvenio and I do own the original Nuvenio. What reason would I have to make and negative statements about the nfusion and positive statements about the kbox unless they were true in my opinion. I do not work for or are paid by either company. I was given both boxes to test for free by the respective companies and came to the conclusion. The kbox outperformed the nfusion after n3. They asked for my honest evaluations and I did state thought I thought the nfusion hd model was way over priced and the kbox was the better receiver with more features for the buck.
The nfusion hd model even to this day will not receive CC although they say it will. They have lied to the consumer. I have tried to receive CC through RF, Component, Composite, SVideo, and HDMI connections and nothing will allow you to access CC. Now with kbox I connect right through Component and press the CC button on the remote and have CC. The IPPR has never worked right on the nfusioon but the PVR on the kbox works awesome. Do I have to go on or have you heard enough?

Does not the Box that Gives Most channels be the Box that wins

My Reason for this thing is i like to check out the Sports Events and PPV. My legit Sub get alot of Channels. If at the end of a game the team with the most points doesn't win I am at at a lost. Really what is the criteria that the supporters of boxes with less channels using to say that box Rocks and everything else is chop liver? I am all ears cause i must be missing something.Does not the box where u don't have to do hard resets win. Please enlighten me!!!!

Sir, I go for the stability of the channels and if you have a 1000 channels and they are freezing to the point of not being able to effectively watch TV. Then what good are they? Every IKS receiver from time to time will have to be reset right now because that is the nature of the beast. I understand they are working on a new bin that will stop this procedure.

Started in this FTA thingie when it began. Have been testing KBox for two weeks. Basically sat on the fence since my VS Platinum took a powder ... no signal, receiver is still good. KBox was easy to set up, good picture and has been running flawlessly. Until something else better appears on the scene, KBox gets my vote.

I ran one box side by side with each other -i found one box to have more channels and less freezin than the other -i decided to spend my bucks on the nose of the horse with the most horsepower. The other box was not a stable as my nova even after nag3. If u saw something different great- i know what i saw and i know what i was willing to spend money on after not having the other box for more than a month. I was not happy with the other box that i just retired but in none of my post will i call that box below standard- Because beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If we all liked the same box and the same cars life would be kinda of dull. I wish they had of let me know they were working on the freezin problem that most folks said wasn't happening in the first place. Since i do not have an in with the provider i cut my losses and bailed out. hope they be successful with the bin for the freezin that wasn't that bad

Well right now they have had the same bin file for the last 7 weeks and in the mean time the other IKS receivers have changed there's many times. I do not get to watch much TV, but I do a lot of testing and my opinions are based on my testing. Should I go to a receiver and check and it is working at that time then I am inclined to believe it has been stable. Now that may not be the case at all just when I go to see if it is up or down. Therefore I report on what I see.

And i love how u help folks. You answered the 64000 dollar question. You don't watch to much TV !!! Maybe my problem is I watch the tube. After watching the tube with both boxes I choose the one i am watching now. My Plasma is goin to die soon because if its not on 18 hours a day I am out of town-Lol. Keep up the good work JIM. See we can disagree without being disagreable. Thats what testing is about.

newyourrookie, and most of you probably know me to be a very opinionated person and I really try to express it honestly. Yes I have made mistakes and when I do I will apologize and be very sincere.
Gary Gnu who is a close and personal friend has made me eat crow more than once and probably in the future will make me do so again, but when I say something I honestly believe it to be true because either I have been told that by people I respect in this wonderful hobby or by my own research. I am led to believe that in fact it is the truth.
I will continue to help all with my knowledge and hopefully not make any mistakes but PLEASE should I make a mistake do not hesitate to let me know. I have very thick skin and can take it. Just I would ask that you do it the same way newyorkrookie did in a clear and concise manner. We all have a voice and with opinions we can all help one another to enjoy this great hobby. I like the kbox, newyorkrookie likes the nfusion, someone else may like the SV. That is why I think this is a great thread. PLEASE all express your opinions.

WOW! This Sonicview, I mean Nfusion oh I'm sorry Kbox thread went on a lot longer than it should have! GEESH! What a waste of bandwith just to sell Kbox's when the original thread starter had not even mentioned them.
