Is it the regular cable maybe I never used it before to confim it works. The crossover one I can confirm it did work as it was part of my old setup. Thoughts?

The green light you want to see is on top of the hub. The ones beside the ethernet port are only telling you that the hub is connected to the laptop.
The green ethernet port light will flicker when its receiving comunication.

If you used the crossover cable before then its pretty safe to assume you should use it with this laptop too.

Also do you have another pc to connect to the cable from the laptop to see if maybe the hub is causing some issue ?

Something else to try too is reactivating the hub with the Khub.rom file
make sure all AU are off and mode is set to network.

okay i am back. i did a ping and on the wireless received all four packets so it is good. I tried with the LAN connection as well it worked (ping). my question is in DOS should I have both connections working? I would assume I should only she one address as i am sharing???? also i remember i messed around with the names of the connections does that matter? I called one internet connection now but one was called local connection3 but I screwed around and i can't remember what they where titled could this be an issue? If so is there any way to go back to default settings??? help before i go nutz.

the computer get the names ..

you should see in dos all the connections that is ... ip config /all

like me i have a built in modem, ethernet, wireless, a VPN

yes if all is working and plugged in you would see 2 different connections with the ips we talked about .. one wireless one gotten from the DHP server of the router you connected to ..
and one ethernet connection which should automatically end in .1
