Future of fta?

I have been reading everything i can as always and ive been thinking about one new advancement that no one is talking about and i know microsoft and others have invested trillions to get it moving forward. Internet tv might be the down fall of the sat empire in the future as its starting to present itself and even myself i find now watching tv right from servers on sites. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and where it might be going as quality has improved in the last year alone and with streaming and that now getting better maybe dave tv and direct and others may be into a bigger fight then just simple hackers jacking airwaves maybe it might be big boys ripping there pants off for a change maybe that will get prices to drop so affordable to the people and change the industry? have to look at apple solution for media files for that simple cheap means millions of down loads in this market. sometimes i think they are missing the entire picture as cheaper rates dont me less profits it means more can afford to not pirate. Have to look at the fact that 10 years ago reaching 1 percent of the market on internet meant millionire now adays if you reach 1 percent your a multi millionier........ maybe one day.... soon ........ they will get it.
Just my thoughts for the day lol.......

Just take a look at the new lap tops - HDMI output card built right into them - Pretty convenient if you ask me.

Very good possibility - but I am sure they will be charging the same or more rates once it is fully established.

i agree with lutz, and to add, there are too many streaming sites to compete with which are free so i think a internet tv pay site wouldn't draw much crowd unless they had what the others didn't offer, which would mean competing with the big screen cinema

The newer DN IRDs have both a usb port and an ethernet port so we can guess where this is going. I can get more TV on streaming video sites than I could ever get with FTA. In the future I do believe there won't be very many dishes involved and most of the providers content will be delivered via the internet. Some people can't get a dish to work because of their location especially in mountainess regions and this will make it all available to people without a clear line of site to the sats. I foresee a whole new slew of court cases involving the providers and sites delivering movies, sports etc. The only good thing about this, unless you have sat internet, is no more rain fade. It's a computer world now and this will be the way of the future. JMO!

I think that more and more people are going to join the likes of Netflix. My boss has a sub with them and can watch movies anywhere....home, the hotel on business trips....anywhere he can get internet access. Its also not that badly priced.

Ahaw!!! Was wondering when the underestimated netflix would be mentioned. Watching the streaming development myself. Yup, its gonna be a userper. The current lack of food(entertainment) is nothing compare to the real pain we'll feel if we lose true FTA forever. Curse the thought.
