Unhappy DN upgrading to MP4

I heard DN was upgrading to MP4 and as a result our IKS receivers would no longer work. Has anyone else heard this? Is it true about not working any longer after the upgrade?

If they change to MP4, then do you think that the legal sub receiver are ready for that, if not then they have to replace the receivers first, that is a very big task.

Good point Eagle. I just checked the DN website and only the HD receivers are MP4 capable. An expensive upgrade for those who don't already have HD. Thanks.

They would still run N3 encryption.

not sure but i was told the mpg 4 upgrade is future plans, the way i understood,DN is in process of an upgrade that does include mpg4,it will be on a P5 issued card that will only work with latest equipment still being tested and none has been released, the DN tech said that the upgrade would be costly to DN and the consumers, only premium channel customers will be able to get the mpg setup, all others will continue to run P4.the new equipment is state of art, hand held monitors, with travel capabilities without a dish.signals will be sent thru new wave technology not yet made public. One dish and one wire will feed whole house monitoring of DN with every tv viewing whatever is available, all different channels.so the future ot DN does have changes ahead, the way it affects us,not sure, but its a sure thing with mpg4 and the P-4 card will not be affected

I think you have your cards mixed up Bro. The P series of cards are for Daves IRDs. Now the N4 card is for added features but still uses the same encryption. Check DN's website and you'll see that handheld versions are already for sale.

the last n3 upgrade cost dn the worst lost in the entire year, they even could not come out of their loss even in 4th quarter, and if they thinking about doing the upgrading, then they have no choice but to file chapter VIII, same way when almost 13 years back, primestar did so many changes, and lost the race with their competitor, i guess it was comcast at that time.
