Kbox Prodigy Hmm

I remember heedo's last post in response to the thread about an upcoming model named the kbox pro. Well Heedo tantalizeed us with his usual little baiting, any boy did I bite. I'm geussing xince the file area is up that the new stb should be out sometime this next week. What do we have upcoming? hub already built in, dual tuner or maybe hd. Pondering minds want to know, tease us a little more. I know we won't get the real skinny till it's released but it's nice to be teased a little

Whenever it is ready for release I am sure it will be announced at the Kbox home site along with the specs.

Cool Nothing to tantalize

I haven't tantalized you as there is nothing to tantalize about the Prodigy will be at dealers this week.

There is nothing new with this unit the specs are the same as the PLUS. the PLUS is simply the upgraded boxes with the chip replaced the Prodigy is just the first generation of new units with the chip factory installed.

Work is continuing along on the K2 "Black Panther" But there is no tmeline on it.

The specs for the PRODIGY are now on the kboxteam website:

FEATURES

* MPEG-2 / DVB-S Compliant

* Blind Scan
* Multi-Satellite Search

* USB 2.0 Host Support
* Time-Shifting and PVR (Personal Video Recorder) Ready
* Onboard MP3 Player and JPEG Viewer

* 1 LNB Input Satellite Tuner
* DiSEqC 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and USALS

* On-Screen Channel Editor (Favorites, Lock, Skip, Move, Delete)
* Flexible Channel Sorting (Alphabet, Transponder, CAS, etc)
* Favorites Grouping

* Brilliant 65,535 Colors Full-Resolution On-Screen Display
* Multi-Language On-Screen Menu
* Multi-Picture Modes

* Closed Caption Capable
* Receiver Lock and Parental Lock

* Data Communications via USB 2.0 Port, RS-232 Serial Port, and LAN (with optional network module)

* RF Output
* Composite (Video, L/R Stereo)
* Component (Y/Pb/Pr)
* S-VHS
* Digital Audio (S/PDIF)

* Includes Universal Remote Control

Cool Nope

No network port added it says with

LAN (with optional network module)

Which is the KHub

There is NO difference hence my statement:

the PLUS is simply the upgraded boxes with the chip replaced the Prodigy is just the first generation of new units with the chip factory installed.

It is no different other than it is the new batch of recievers(not upgraded ones)
It does not have a ethernet port as if you read the specs it says Data Communications via USB 2.0 Port, RS-232 Serial Port, and LAN (with optional network module)

Cool No Idea

The PVR functions are via the software and given that this is new model, the only software available in the next week or so will be the FACTORY file. The coders will have to get their hands on one and see what they can do with it...

You will not be able to use the PLUS bins on it nor can you load the Prodigy factory file on the PLUS. So the coders, (who don't wrok for KBox will no doubt be bringing out PRODIGY files), hence the reason there is now a new forum titled KBox PRODIGY files.
