What Legal Action Can I Take?

i sued a friend for not paying for doing 2500 worth of damage to my bike

i later learned that i could of had his license taken away for not paying me if i would of make a police report when he wrecked it

i paid like 20 or 50 bucks to take him to small claims
he didnt show up
i was awarded a piece of paper (a judment in the amount of 2500)
i visted a attorney that gave me free advice
he told me that in order for me to sue my ex-friend where we live in texas that he would have to have over 60,000 in assets(money and/possesions)
besides what he uses to live in or use for work

so yep i was screwed

the only other thing that i could do was put a lean on his property
he didnt have any property
if he had property then the lean would show up and make his title to his property not a clear title

lean is not state wide only county wide
it cost like 10 bucks for every county you apply the judment

lean would have to be paid if he gained property
and if he had property (which he didnt) that i would be paid before he could sell it

i did take the judment and put a lean on his parents property
really just a lean in our county, he lives just down the street
on any property that he might aquire since he didnt own any at the time

i did not renew the lean
it has to be renewed every 2 or 5 years
and the 2500 amount builds intrest every year as long as it is renewed

i would get paid when his parents die unless his parents sold it before they died (they lived here all their lives so i doubt that)
if i wanted to start the lean again and renew it every few years for 20 years
and instead of him owing me 2500 he would have to pay me a whole lot more

if the laws in your ex-friend state are anything like the laws in Texas then let it go

i did not renew the lean after a few years
i just wanted to forget that it happened
i could not hold on to it and wait for his folks to die

i mean i could of, but i didnt want to

what happened to you is he got a free tv box

and in exchange he propabably feel like he gave you a life lesson

that is what he gave you, i would not look at it as such a bad thing
you will not make the same mistake again

and i will never let anyone drive my motorcycle or car again but if i do for some strange reason you can bet the bank that i will get the police to take a full report if they damage it

and take there license away until i am paid

After being to court several times I can tell you one thing, the law protects the crooks, the lazy and the stupid, it's like almost impossible to get anything and the only people benefiting are the lawyers.
A lawyer charged me a lot of money just to tell me: "what are you going to sue these people for they don't have anything"

You know the saying: If you want justice serve it yourself.

I feel for you CT..in this days and age there's a con man and a man to be conned..Sorry it happened to be you..Niceties does not exist anymore but the moral lesson learned from here is..When selling something MONEY has to be in your bank before even sending the merchandise..If you go after this scumbag the money your'e going to spend is better off buying three (3) newer boxes..

just becouse you get a judgement don't mean you will get aney money
maby he don.t work or workes for his self or under the table so you will still be out the money you lost + the money you put out for take him to cort
