What Legal Action Can I Take?

Someone who I thought was a friend has con me out of a DVB StarBox.
He said he would like a StarBox for his PC and did not know were to get one.
I said I could pick one up at my whole seller, so I pick one up and sent it two him and he was sending payment. I think he got the box because the postal web site said delivered, that when he disappear off my Yahoo IM. I waited two weeks and then called him. He said he just getting in the door and he sent payment and will be online later, he never came on. I Call him the next day and went to voice mail, left message, nothing. I call back and I know he was sending me to voice mail by the way the ring change. I call many times and got Voice mail. It been almost two month now and still no payment, so I got the post office invalled, they are sending a letter asking if he got the box I sent and to sign the letter if he got it. If he say no then it between me and the post office. If he say yes I would have to sue him for the cost, but I’m in Canada and he is in the USA
How can I sue him? Is there a collection company in the states I can call for help?

Can someone tell me what I should do?

P.S I know I should have got the payment first, but I thought he was a friend.

It will cost you more than the box is worth if you try to persue this. Once bitten, twice shy, live and learn. Maybe someone else will learn from your post.

It doesnt appear that you have a choice without forking out alot of money and you still may not resolve this in your favour. Sorry.

Like Kramer says,
Other then hiring someone to find a valid address for him, and you driving to his house.
You then confront him and if you have to call the local police to meet you there. You tell them he stole the unit and you hand them the serial # of the box. And have his cooperation of answering the door and letting the police in and looking for the box and matching serial numbers.
You can not tell them that you sent it to him because it will become a civil matter then you file a small claims suit in the city or county that he lives in. You then have to drive to his area court and talk to the judge and show proof that you sold this unit to him and show an agreement between you and him that you sold him the box, like some kind of recipt that he signed.

other then that You are screwed.

Try a TV judge. Those shows are always soliciting cases for viewers. If you receive Judge Judy, People's Court or others, try going online or calling an 800 number to state your case. Even though you are in Canada, I have seen shows with Canadians on it but it will require you to make a personal appearance. However, most shows set aside $5,000 from which any award is deducted. The remaining amount, if any, is split among the plaintiff and defendant as compensation for their appearance on the show.

The first one was locked within 5 min. then in 5 more min. it was deleted by someone,
then I repost it here because the other one was already gone. I think the first one was posted in the wrong place.

Sorry if I did something wrong.

Correct

the advice you have gotten here is correct I JUST finished a small claims court case with filings then all the motions etc, it cost about $200, then the original amount was close to $2500 settled for $1250 so your box is likely not worth it...oh yeah PLUS 3 days from work for filings and mediation etc...
