It use to be said the Gov worked for the people, since we put them in office. But they work for who can make their pockets fatter.
I'm quite sure the average Canadian wouldn't mind starting a job, work for six years, get a full pension, then return to a regular job if they wish.
But that JMO.
Most of us canadians do standup for our rights its our goverment that is messedup. Infaxt i'm a Native born here and Canada And most garentee we stand for our rights. Also no not illigle to dl bins like said a few post ago the only time it is when you put it in a box to recieve few programeing. Also same with a signal if you can pull it from the air it's yours but ounce you hook something to it again to recieve something to your benifit then it would be against the law......

People everywhere , including Canada , need to understand that in Canada you are guilty until proven innocent. In the USA the opposite is true. That`s the way it is and has been for a long time.

I don't know if this means anything but I know a guy who claimis he called the FCC and asked them if it was illegal to use a 3rd party software on a third party piece of equipment to watch DN and the response was no. There response was if you didn't alter any of DN's equipment that it wasn't illegal because they are transmitting a signal over your property and if you were to catch the signal you are doing it from your property not using any altered DN equipment.

I'm no lawyer

Wouldn't this be challenged? It's akin to snooping in your mailbox. They might not see what's in the package but they know who you're corresponding with. This is a clear erosion of privacy. Unfortunately Canadians aren't familiar with that concept.

I don't know willie!

I operate a hosting site as well, and I keep no logs and nobody ever told me I "have-to"...

It's not governed by anyone else than the owners... There is no LAW that states otherwise.

My mistake Falcon , I confused Brodcadcasting sites with internet site which does not brodcast via the air waves. it is part of the National security act of 1976. Which cut the FCC,s throat It prohiits any U.S. offical from monitoring the free (doesnt exclude Paid) airways regardless of where that person is in the world.

Just to clear the air on the difference between Canadian and American laws regarding Satellite channels. In Canada, the Satellite providers won a Federal court case to make the reception of Satellite signals by illegitimate means illegal.
This does not circumvent or render null the Canadian Constitution that all citizens will be considered innocent until proved to be guilty.
People are confusing the actions of the Police, with the reality of the judicial system. The Police can accuse anyone of anything, but they have to prove it. If they don't have solid, demonstrable proof, but have acted as if they do, they are held accountable by a Police Disciplinary Review. In this case, charges are thrown out, the criminal record expunged, and compensation awarded to the injured party.
People are charged daily for many things, the vast majority go free. Canadians have some of the greatest freedoms and best rights in the world, that's why so many people flock here from other countries, and we welcome them with open arms. If you don't understand what your rights are then instead of complaining, go ask questions, get answers, feel secure.

RodD1962 thanks for setting some of our friends straight. I have had the pleasure of spending a night in an American jail all because a buddy and I were standing too close to a group that the Police were rounding up. A thousand big ones later we were set free and told to leave the state. We had lawyers lined up to take our money for nothing. Canada/USA, Canada any day.
