First let's get some facts clear. 1. There are CONFIRMED clones of the nFusion NOVA being sold. 2. There are CONFIRMED NOVA clones which have been placed IN Solaris cabinets. 3. nFusion stopped producing the NOVA model in 2008. 4. ORIGINAL Solaris, Phoenix, and HD models have a new "Security chip" installed. 5. Original NOVA's, as well as CLONED NOVA's, including those in Solaris cabinets do NOT have the security chips installed. With recent files, these units display the "security device failed" message. 6. The CLONES are placing additional strained upon the SUNS Servers. These clones have, (according to nFusion), been flooding the market of late. The clones are produced using many of the same components and are produced in the same factory where the original NOVA's were produced. Given this there is virtually no difference, including the fact that the clones have been able to connect to the SUNS server. The CLONES are using up VALUABLE SUNS server resources, and as yet nFusion has yet to come up with a viable solution to block the clones from connecting the the servers. Given this, nFusion has given "some indication" that they plan to stop clones from connecting to their servers. IF they were to follow this course of action, (as of writing this, this is still in the PLANNING stage and has NOT been implemented). Unfortunately to cut off the clones means nFusion would also be depriving ORIGINAL NOVA's from also connecting. This would, (given that there are NO stand alone bins produced), render the NOVA's obsolete as well. Therefore, Rookie's STAFF position, until the plans come to fruition or things are FINALLY resolved is as such: 1. Given that production of NOVA's has been ceased; 2. Given that "some" NOVA clones have been discovered IN Solaris cabinets; 3. nFusion's action plan regarding CLONES is still only in the planning stage; Members should ONLY buy ORIGINAL nFusion products from "nFusion AUTHORIZED" resellers. Members should also "consider" purchasing those models which are CONFIRMED to contain the "security chip". Purchasing an ORIGINAL NOVA is still acceptable BUT one should consider the fact that these units do NOT contain the "security chip". If you are looking for a FTA ONLY unit for use with TRUE FTA, then ALL models of nFusion are perfectly acceptable for this use. If you apply a "third party application" on your unit and should nFusion implement a "clone killer" your unit "could" be negatively affected. If after purchasing a unit from a dealer, and you do decide to apply a "third party application" on it it displays the "security device failed" message you have been sold a CLONE. You should bring this to the attention of the dealer and request a resolution. It is our intention ONLY to advise our members of the information available to us as of THIS date. We advise ALL members to do their OWN research and make an INFORMED buying decision. We are NOT suggesting in ANY fashion that members not consider nFusion as an alternative, simply that you take this info into consideration in any purchasing decisions you make. As always Rookie will keep OUR members advised should further info come to light on this matter. We are simply the messenger in this instance and support ALL brands equally, and fairly. PLEASE refrain from taking this information as a "reason" to bash, criticize or in any other manner flame nFusion, the manufacturer, their agents, or coders. as this WILL be dealt with swiftly. We continue to hope for the sake of the END USER this "planned action" is taken under reconsideration BEFORE any actions are taken. |

To me, all this means
is that any legitimate Nfusion Nova owners are going to get screwed by the company. And Nfusion hopes they buy their FTA box that are more secured with a chip. This good of been a intention from the start. Who knows? But serial numbers that they know they have produced, should offer a large discount on other choices.

program to add security chip to Genuine Nova's?
I bought 3 genuine novas and I get the security failed also. Would the factory consider allowing me to send in all Three(3) to have the security chip added, or exchange them for the Solaris? Is this going to be an option to the people who bought original equipment, or are we going to just get screwed?

Well if they plan on killing all genuine Novas in an attempt to kill the clones the least they could do is exchange our genuine novas for one's with chips or for a Solaris at any authorized dealer. And I'm even willing to pay the cost differenace of $50.00. I know one thing for sure, if they kill my genuine nova I'm going to be pissed. They should also 100% stop all sales of Nova now becasue there still selling like hot cakes.
