Lightbulb Amazonas 2

Amazonas 2 after being put into orbit on September 23 and its operation by mid-November.

The new satellite Amazonas 2 will be launched into orbit next month, September, at 61W, which is the current, and will be operated by the group HISPASAT.
You will have one for ALL COBERRTURA North and South America plus the Caribbean and Central America, with 55 TP and 10 at KU C.
Aca les accompanies its footprint map and table size of plates to use in different regions of Continente.Proyecto Amazonas 2
Released: 23/septiembre/2009

The rapid commercialization of Amazon 1, as occupancy rates over 88 percent in late 2006, the Governing Body of HISPASAT June 2007, unanimously approved the construction of a new satellite, Amazonas 2 for the orbital position 61 º West.

The launch and subsequent entry into operation of this satellite is planned for 2009. The financing of investments necessary for development of this project by HISPASAT is without recourse to shareholders, through cash flows generated by the business and the new debt.

The Amazonas 2 will have a lifespan of 15 years and provide a variety of communications services, including direct to home television (DTH), through a total of 64 simultaneous transponders, of which 54 will operate in Ku band and 10 in band C.

This new satellite will have a launch mass of 5.5 tonnes, a solar orbit deployed in more than 39 meters and a power exceeding 14 kW at the end of its useful life. Its footprint will be extended coverage on the American continent from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego with optimized coverage in North and South America Ku-band.

The Amazonas 2 will also, covering the Latin American countries on the continent in C band

The new satellite will provide a modern and competitive communications capacity in Latin America, both in the traditional business of leasing space capabilities, and the related projects linked to technological innovation.

Total investment over 200 million, including launch, insurance and ground segment.

HISPASAT has signed with EADS-Astrium the contract award for construction of its new satellite with a substantial direct Spanish industry.

Much of the production of the Amazonas 2 will be held in Spain. Thus, EADS CASA Espacio will be responsible for the antennas, which will ensure the reception and transmission of communication signals to earth. Thales Alenia Space Spain multiplexers provide input and equipment TCR Ku-band transponder for communications, for the filtering and amplifying communication signals. Rymsa provide speakers for beacons and TCR antennas and RF units built Mier.
In the area of the platform, Astrium Crisa will manufacture electronic equipment for controlling various actuators and pyrotechnic devices.

Along with this new contract, HISPASAT has also signed an agreement with EADS Astrium for the development of an industrial return program that will add more than one hundred million euros to direct participation in the Amazon 2 for Spanish industry.

Amazonas will have more coverage in North Americas so as long as it's on N2 there will be files for it.

Final assembly of the fifth Ariane 5 for 2009 is complete with its dual-passenger payload

Published By Klaus SchmidtOn: 26 September 2009 7:54 AM CEST
Source (Arianespace) –

The fifth Ariane 5 for launch in 2009 is ready for liftoff next week following the integration of its military and civilian telecommunications spacecraft payloads at the Spaceport in French Guiana.

With the Amazonas 2 and COMSATBw-1 satellites installed atop the Arianespace heavy-lift vehicle, this Ariane 5 is now undergoing a last series of checks in preparation for its rollout to the Spaceport’s ELA-3 launch zone.

The Ariane 5 is inside the Final Assembly Building, where Amazonas 2 and COMSATBw-1 were integrated earlier this week.

Upcoming milestones will be the pre-launch readiness review on Monday, September 28, followed by the vehicle’s transfer to the ELA-3 launch pad on Tuesday. Liftoff of the Ariane 5 is planned on September 30 during a 1 hr. 10 min. launch window that opens at 7:00 p.m. (local time in French Guiana).

Amazonas 2 will ride as the upper payload, with COMSATBw-1 positioned as the lower satellite passenger in the Ariane 5’s “stack.” The two spacecraft will be deployed during a mission lasting 33 minutes.

The 5,500-kg. Amazonas 2 is based on EADS Astrium’s Eurostar E3000 spacecraft bus, and will be operated by Spain’s HISPASAT from a final orbital slot of 61 deg. West. This satellite will provide relay capacity over the Americas, with a coverage area extending from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.

COMSATBw-1 has a liftoff mass of approximately 2,500 kg. and will play an important role in the German Bundeswehr’s (German Armed Forces) concept for network-centric operations. It is to serve as the backbone of a strategic command infrastructure and interface for the Bundeswehr’s tactical arms, handling secure information – including voice, fax, data, video and multimedia applications – for use by units on deployed missions.

The COMSATBw-1 spacecraft’s coverage area will extend from America to eastern Asia. For this German military program, Astrium is responsible for the space segment and is Arianespace’s customer for the commercial launch services. Thales Alenia Space designed, manufactured, integrated, tested and delivered the satellite to Astrium, while Astrium’s German subsidiary TESAT manufactured essential parts of the payload.
