Dish Network will be in Houston this weekend to distribute digital converter boxes to customers who have the $40 government coupon.
The “Coupon Swap” program is a nationwide initiative to get customers ready for the conversion to digital television signals on June 12.
Converter boxes are only available to those with a valid $40 coupon.
Customers can go to Cossaboom YMCA at 7903 South Loop East on June 5, or M.D. Anderson Family YMCA at 705 Cavalcade on June 6.
Dish Network handed out about 400 boxes in Dallas last weekend, according to Marcel Guajardo, a spokesman for the company. The current plan is to hand out about 400 to 500 boxes in Houston.
Guajardo said representatives from the Federal Communication Commission will also be on hand to answer questions related to the digital conversion and what households need to do to be ready for the switch.
