Probably. In the next year, more and more FTA boxes will come with an Ethernet port. Why? Not because the manufacturers want you to get caught hooked to dangerous servers. They want to keep up with the competition, who have adapted their boxes to get stuff off the Internet. And, if it turns out that N3 gives DN the capability to introduce ECMs that shut down static bins at a rapid rate, coders won't have time to re-wite the bin before the next ECM hits. If I thought of this, DN and NagraStar surely have. They are not stupid.
This will render the methods used for the last several years to get bins into the hands of users obsolete. Only a dynamic control word update method, such as IKS, will be able to keep up, and that is even questionable.
The coders will surely come up with some sort of fix, albeit temporary. But that won't happen until the G3 card is hacked and its secrets sold to the highest bidder. End of summer or early fall, perhaps. Meanwhile non-IKS FTA receiver sales will continue to be in the toilet.
