I'm running the SimpleTech FV-U35/500 with my SV8000. Just make sure you remove safely when updating new bin or you can screw up the power supply and have to get a new box or send old one in to get fixed without factory bin on it. I even used it to record when the freezing problems were plaguing the stbs and it recorded without missing any of the program unlike trying to watch it live

Hey guys I have a USB 2.0 Western Digital Passport 250 GB drive. Been using it since May or June it was purchased for my PC's but when I needed a drive for the PVR I tried it and it has worked great No Problem..... It is 3 inches wide, 5 long and half inch thick. That is it: light, portable, fast and reliable. There is no power port on it only USB. It was great for my Laptop and desktops etc and now for my 360P....

Seagate USB

I used a Seagate FreeAgent 160GB External and it worked recording one show, then got corrupted and seized to work ever again.

Going to try Simple Tech next.

1TB MyBook

I have finally upgraded from my previous post (8gb flash drive) to a beautiful 1TB WD MyBook and I gotta say it has given me excellent results. It comes in FAT32 format out of the box so I just plugged it in. At first it would recognize it but would not tell me how much space was available and when I went to record it would say it was not formatted. I struggled for hours my receiver would not scan or format it. Finally I hook the HDD to my laptop and formatted it to NTFS. Then I hooked it back up to my receiver and BAMM!!! the receiver said that the drive needed to be formatted so I did just that and from that day forth it has not failed me ounce. OH by the way I have this HDD hooked up to my just as equally wonderful SV8000 HD V2 with a USB (extra USB in the back with switch in the front flap to allow use of bout ports) and fan (pulls in twice the air with 0 noise whatsoever) mod. It works just as good on my SV360 also. By the way I record things all night on it and neither the HDD or receiver have gave me any problems.

JKcon, you mentioned "the receiver said that the drive needed to be formatted so I did just that ".

On the SV 360 Elite, it prompts for a format, what did you chose, EXT... or FAT32?
