POINCIANA, Fla. -- A pregnant cougar is on the loose in Osceola County.
Officials with the sheriff's office as well as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were searching Monday for the missing feline.
The cougar, named Sierra, escaped Saturday while being transported to a cage for a trip to the veterinarian near Poinciana. Jungle Adventures in Christmas has a permit to own the cougar, and the commission is investigating why the woman who was taking her to the vet had the animal.
Sierra was born in captivity and does not have front claws. She is not known to be vicious but is not considered a pet.
Anyone who spots the feline should call 1-888-404-3922.
