Linear LNB that does not require skew?

I just went online to purchase a Linear LNB for pointing at 123W.
The site that I ordered it from has no disscussion but offers a Viewsat Linear LNB. It bolts up to the bracket just like a Circular LNB. How does it work if it does not rotate (skew) to line up with the Sat that sends a polorized (linear) signal?

Linear LNBs tend to mount by the neck (between the source end of the horn, and the body which stands down and has the cable connect to it).

Depending on where the dish gets aimed that the Linear LNB is mounted to, you will have to skew it left or right depending on how east or west the satellite is of you,

You can easily avoid all of the skew issues just by going to a motorised configuration, but aiming a motorised dish is probably the hardest thing to point short of talking about 2 way sat comms.....

To my knowledge when mounting a linear lnb to your dish it is skewed at 13 degrees the lnb of which you are speaking comes already skewed so it fits right into a standard lnb mount on your dish I own one of them.

Post throat

Fixed dishes big enough for true fta use 40mm throat mount lnbs.
A rectangular mount lnb is designed for motorized systems where the initial skew is zero and the motor twisting does the rest.

Skew is the difference in longitude degrees from your location to the sat location. So if you live at 97w say and you are aiming at 97w,the skew would be zero.

Thank you for your replies, I have a 2 meter dish that is not motorized It sits in a stand (I tilt and pan it by hand) I have purchased a linear LNB that you mentioned with a fixed skew. Will I be able to use this type LNB to line up with 123W? Or does my dish have to be able to skew.

I might need to add that my location is in La Paz, BCS, Mexico at 24n10,110w18. So what would my skew be if pointing at 123W?

Use one of these sites to determine your skew for a specific sat based on your location:

Thanks for this information, the original thread was about this Viewsat LNB that will mount in the common bracket. How can it skew if it does not turn.

Oldstones, you say you own one of these LNB's. I have a 2 meter fixed dish without a motor, can I use this viewsat LNB and line up with 123W? without using a motor to rotate and skew my dish?
