or this
Galaxy 18 setup guide if telefonica doesnt work for you (this is tru fta) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Galaxy 18 setup Guide This is a quick guide ******ed at receiving Galaxy 18, one of many true FTA sats. Dish size KU band true FTA channels are broadcast in the FSS spectrum with linear polarization. Because of the lower power of these FSS satellites, a larger dish will be required to receive anything. For reliable KU band reception, a 33" or larger dish will be required. Depending on the satellite, and your geographic location, a larger dish may be required. 36" is a good size for those in the Continental US and southern Canada. If you currently have a dish at 97w, it will work just fine for 123w. LNB type For reception of KU band true FTA, you will need a Standard linear LNBF with a local oscillator (LO) frequency of 10750mhz. I wouldn't recommend using a Universal LNB because of the slight frequency difference, and incompatibility with 22k switching. Setting up a fixed dish system for Galaxy 18 at 123w A true FTA system can be an excellent addition to your entertainment system. These systems aren't that difficult to set up. If you were able to install a dish for Gl*beCast, you will be able to point a dish at 123w and enjoy an additional 30 channels of US ******* programming-perfect if you live in an area with poor or non-existent off-air reception. 1. Set up your dish and LNB. If you currently have a dish at 97w, it can be re pointed to 123w with relative ease. It is best to connect the LNB ******ly to the receiver while fine-tuning a satellite. 2. Set the elevation on the dish. Use Dish Pointer to get your azimuth, elevation, and skew angles. The elevation scale on some cheap dishes will be off by a few degrees, so some adjustments may be required. 3. Using a compass, set the azimuth, taking into account the magnetic deviation for your area. You can tighten the bolts just enough so that you can still move the dish. Find your magnetic deviation here: hXXp://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomagmodels/Declination.jsp 4. Set the LNB skew. For reception of linear polarity signals, the LNB has to be skewed. If you're looking at the dish from the front, start with the cable at the 6 o'clock position (0 degrees skew). For positive skew, the connector will point to the right. Tip: If you're using an in line signal meter, peak your dish on the DN satellite at 121w. This is a HOT bird and it will be easy to tune. Then, move your dish slightly to the right and you will have Galaxy 18. 5. Power on the receiver and fine tune dish. When you turn your receiver on, go into the antenna settings menu and set your LNB type (Standard 10750) and any applicable switch settings. You can then select Galaxy 10R (or Galaxy18 if you have current firmware) and check signal and quality readings. You can then fine-tune your azimuth and elevation, followed by skew for optimal quality. Don't stand in front of the dish while making adjustments-I did that my first time 6. Run a blind scan to load channels. This feature may be called ***** scan or power scan, depending on your receiver! All the best and happy testing,
