fan running

I just happend to notice that my fan for my 9000hd runs all the time, even when I shut it off. Anyone know if shuts off automaticaly? Or do I need to kill the power from the rear power switch?

I would guess that it will run on until the temp lowers. It's thermostatically controlled. I am guessing you're just turning it off by your RCU and not the rear switch. Check it after awhile and seeif the fan has stopped (in the morning for example). I'll check mine when I get home.... but I never turn mine off.

Your correct, it will run until it reaches a desired temp.

If you turn it off in the back, you cut all power.

Just checking what kind of hard drive are you running with

I also never turn my unit off unless bin refresh

fan

it's weird because after dn goes down I kill the power from the rear. When I turn it back on, everything is cold, it starts right up and stays on. I think it's similar to my pc and stays on at all times. I already replaced my power supply on my pc, my computer got really quiet for a few days and power supply got fried. I was just wondering

This is why it is very important that you don't block the input vents and output of the fan, you need to keep a path of circulation (we have anough problems on our own and we don't need to create more).

Power supplies on a pc, it just depends on the environment.

I have 3 pc's (one of them is 7 years old, just for updates)at the house and the only time they go off is when the power to the house goes off, no problems with power supplies (but I have had new machines that I have replaced within a year)

Check the bottom of your stb if it is warm; thats normal. If it is hot to the touch look at ventilation, I run a pvr7000 out of the tv cabinet because it was warmer than I liked, I am looking to add a R.Shack pc fan to the cabinet to circulate the air.
