Using two receivers??

I have searched for the answer and may be looking in the wrong area but here it goes...........

I am wondering if I can use two receivers on the same TV by hooking the cable from the wall to the input of a sat cable splitter? From there I am thinking about hooking one of the outputs to my viewstat receiver and the other to a DN 722HD receiver. The 722 is also connected to a TV downstairs. Now everytime I want to use my viewstat I have to unhook the cable from the 722 and connect it to the viewstat, kind of a pain. Also when this happens of course the TV downstairs does not work. Am I looking to do the impossible? or is there a better way like an A/B switch box? My thinking is that since the 722 hooks to the TV using HDMI adn the viewstat hooks to the TV by coax cable I can just change the video input on the remote and switch between the two without disrupting the TV downstairs. But I am idiot when it comes to this stuff. Sorry for such a long question. Thanks for any help you can give.

In the location you want 2 receivers, you can use the loop out connection on the first receiver to go to the 2nd receiver's lnb in connection, but only use one receiver at a time.

Basically, a splitter will not work. What LNB do you have?

i think you need the A/B switch box.. the only thing is i would shut them both off befor switching, it would also let the boxes boot after not haveing a connetion for a length of time.. then just set each box on there own video, dn box on vid1 and vs on vid2.. i just helped somebody set theres up i set cable to TV ,dvd to VID1 and set sat to VID2, that way they can use witch ever one they want, with out doing anything but pushing a button

Thanks. Not really sure what to tell you as I am not all that knowledgable with this stuff. All I know is that DN installed a new dish and 3 LNB's when I upgraded to the HD package. Sorry I know this isn't much help but thanks for the help.
