How to I burn movies from my VS Pro external Hard drive?

I've recorded movies on my VS Pro's external hard drive. The movies are in trp format. I was able to use a freeware program called Super to convert the trp file to a VOB file. Another freeware frogram ImgBurn coverted to VOB file to an iso file and burned it to a disc. The disc will not play. The Super program will play the trp movie in the computer but I cannot seem to burn a working DVD. Is there anyone that can explain how to convert saved movies from an external hard drive and burn the to DVD using freeware? Please help!

Try using another DVD authoring program to burn the VOB file to a DVD. I would not use the 'iso' procedure - just tell the program to take the VOB file and make a video DVD format disk. ConvertXtoDVD is a popular one.

If that does not work, then it could be that the VOB created by Super (from the TRP file) is not a valid DVD MPEG file (VOB files are another form of MPEG).

Try using MPEG Stream Clip to convert the TRP file to MPEG, then use a DVD authoring program to convert the MPEG to DVD.

ALso read this:

Its my thread on converting HD TRP files TO avi. Some of it also applies to SD recordings which would be similar since both the VSPro and VS9000HD can record SD (standard definition) programs to TRP files.

Thanks for the advice but I have Nero 6 and it does not work with my new Vista 64 computer. I would like to find a freeware program like ImgBurn (which should work) to burn these files to a playable DVD.

Be aware that DVD movie disks are set up in a particular format (yet still computer-readable). Just burning a file to a DVD (which is what IMGBurn does) will not make it playable on a DVD player.

IMGBurn can not natively create DVDs in movie disk format. It can only create a DVD from an image file, or write files to DVD in standard computer-readable format. If the image file being burned was of a DVD movie disk, then yes, the resulting IMGBurn disk will be a DVD movie disk.

There are many DVD authoring programs out there - try them to see if they work. Alternatively spend a few $ on one that is specified to work with Vista 64. I don't have Vista 64 so can not help you there.

Thank you Vaq. It seems like ConvertXto DVD is the program that should work and is user friendly. If I can't find a freeware vista64 friendly program I may be forced to purchase ConvertX. I appreciate all of your advice.
