Lightning strike

This week lightning struck near our home. knocked out one TV, our phones and some other electrical items. I have a VS Max HD and VS Ext. when I boot them i can see the channel number, but nothing comes through to the TV? I tried hooking it direct from the dish to the receiver to the TV, still no picture. Would it be safe to assume the LNB got hit? I can't get to the menu on either one to reconfigure because no picture comes through on the TV. Thanks

If it was the LNB you would have a menu screen on the tv at least. Im afraid it sounds more like the lightning got the receivers too... If possible try them on a tv that you know did not get hit because it may just be that that tv wasnt totally killed...

I forgot to mention that I also had to do antenna settings. Is just like starting all over again but adding the factory files.

I appreciate the quick response from everyone. I'll try another TV when I get home this evening...

When i followed the advice of trying another TV, the HD unit I was able to do a factory default, reset all the system settings after downloading the current bin. It should have picked up a signal; however, I'm not getting any S or Q. This afternoon I'll put the satellite finder on it to see if the high winds might have moved the antenna. other than that, i may have to replace the LNB since I'm not getting any S/Q. Thanks for all your help!

Chances are fair that you lost your LNB or switch.
