can you clarify "sub" meaning an fta unit or private server etc? generally a "sub" is meant as a subscription to a paid service like dish or dtv or cable
I just bought a new sharp smart TV with wifi. If i have internet to my tv and only a HDMI connection from my TV to DTV box. Can DTV see what sub is connected. Any help is appreciated.

A paid subscription from DTV

I believe that the only time DTV can see the bos is if it has a phone attached to it. It is not uncommon to not have a phone anymore since Cell Phones are very common in homes.

ok so you have a wifi tv with a sub to dtv.. thats great. now if you're asking if dtv can see a networked fta unit. no
DTV is a totally different system. FTA receivers cannot receive DTV DBS signal or encryption..
Ahh no arguments from me there. However I would not think generally ,many users would attempt it. But Hey I've been incorrect B4. Thanks for all your work in the past. Used it on a few boxes in the OLd Days. Paxx
