can you clarify "sub" meaning an fta unit or private server etc? generally a "sub" is meant as a subscription to a paid service like dish or dtv or cable

I believe that the only time DTV can see the bos is if it has a phone attached to it. It is not uncommon to not have a phone anymore since Cell Phones are very common in homes.

DTV is a totally different system. FTA receivers cannot receive DTV DBS signal or encryption..

A bit too certain of that I think--many FTA boxes can receive DTV DBS signals, but the software was not compiled to allow the hardware to deal with it. Think of the FTA mods to let IRDs work DVB-S signals--the hardware was there, just the software needed to be changed.

Ahh no arguments from me there. However I would not think generally ,many users would attempt it. But Hey I've been incorrect B4. Thanks for all your work in the past. Used it on a few boxes in the OLd Days. Paxx
